03 / FIELD & FLIGHT RULES
Safe flights.
Clear skies.
All club operations follow the NAR Model Rocket Safety Code. Range staff may pause or stop any flight when conditions are unsafe.

Stay at least 15 feet away for D motors or smaller and 30 feet away for E through G motors.
Launch zones
Launch only from the designated areas east or west of the RC airfield. Never set up or launch on the RC runway.
Range procedure
Every rocket receives a safety check and launches electrically after an audible countdown. Coordinate with RC pilots and range staff.
Weather
No launches into clouds, near aircraft, in unsafe winds, or when dry field conditions create a fire risk.
High power
High-power operations are not currently permitted. The club is working toward the approvals and field access required for future high-power launches.

No experience required. Club members can help you understand the range, prepare your rocket, and make your first flight safely.

Bring a rocket
A beginner kit using an A-D motor is a great place to start. Bring the motor, igniter, recovery wadding, and supplies that came with the kit.

Check in
Find a club member or the Range Safety Officer before setting up. We will show you the flying area and review your rocket.

Prepare & fly
Prepare the motor and recovery system, use an assigned pad, step back to the flight line, and join the countdown.
